Recipe: Garlic Broccolini - A Wonderful Side Dish


This is a simple side dish that'll make you excited for broccoli! Broccolini is similar to broccoli in it's florets but it has a much longer skinnier stalk that is not as tough. This dish is very easy to make and goes well with a variety of foods from fish to pork and everything in between.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:
1 lb broccolini
3 cloves garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp water 1/2 Lemon
Salt to taste

Start by rinsing off the broccolini and trimming off the hard end, set the broccolini aside while you get everything else prepared. Put a nice large frying pan on the stove at medium heat and let it sit there while you roughly chop up the garlic. Add the oil to the bottom of the pan and wait for it to shimmer, that's when you know it's time to put in the garlic. You're going to slowly brown the garlic but not burn it. This process leaves the oil (and room) with a beautiful garlic scent. Add the broccolini and water to the pan and cover and let it all steam for no more than 5 minutes. That's it! Serve it with the lemon squeezed over top of the broccolini and salt to taste. I told you it was easy!
